We both were born and grew up in La Crosse and moved away in our early 20's, then each married other spouses and lived in different cities far from each other for many years of our lives.
Back in the 1990's, we each set out to pursue our careers separately not knowing each other or even if we would meet in our future and eventually move back to our same hometown of La Crosse together, get married and live happily.
Pamela left La Crosse for Menomonie in 1992, and she finally settled in Eau Claire, Wi. I left La Crosse for Miami, Fl, in 1990. Eventually, we both came back to be closer to our parents. We had some similar friends and attended similar events early on.
We both graduated from the same high school class, but in different schools in La Crosse. We were both in 'The Class of 1985.' But our paths never crossed until a special summer day on July 30, 2019.
Initially, Facebook happened to recommend that we become friends, which peaked each other's mutual interests. "We then decided the other was cute." She says that I said, 3 minutes into our first conversation, "Well... we are now officially dating and going out." Scrolling may be an odd way to meet, but I found her interesting right off the bat, and we went on to share a lot more things in common with each other, like the love for our family, good friends, and our animals.
It was August 18, 2019 when we decided our first date was going to be at the Holmen Kornfest Auto Show set in Holmen, Wi. From the moment we met each other, I remember thinking that I was lucky for getting two trophies instead of just one that day. One was for the "Best in Show" for bringing my 1926 Chevy Landau Superior 4-door sedan, and the other was seeing her for the very first time in my life.
Anticipating when I was going to see my future wife, as I was still holding my new trophy in my hands, I saw her. She was standing there right there behind me, watching in the crowd of spectators. I felt her presence, and I turned around and she said, "You are a lot taller and muscular than I expected." And I thought she was a very pretty woman whom I considered a possible good friend right from the start. Our friendship grew much stronger, and we decided to marry on July 30, 2022. This was exactly three years to the day since we first talked on the phone together.
We joined our "families" including 1 dog, 3 cats and 2 fish and a lot of extra stuff. Pam has a separate job of working from home and is Ron's #1 cheerleader and business refiner of our table making business. (the title she came up with that sounded more exciting than office manager). When we are not working from home, we love to go on motorcycle rides to our favorite scenic destinations, go hiking or camping but most of all, after a hard day's work we enjoy time together and spending it at home caring for our "mini zoo".

The uniqueness of the Driftless Area supports the region's diverse woodlands and provides the raw, beautiful, and unique wood that is at the cornerstone of our own local business of making traditional hardwood tables from Ash, Cherry, Hackberry, Walnut, American Elm, or White Oak. Although there are many other hardwood species that grow here, only a few of the most suitable species of trees are preferred in our table making business. Most species are abundant and also have unique ecological interactions and ties to the Driftless Area, which are different than other regions due to local topography, microclimates, and soil conditions that stem from the area's unglaciated history. Its landscape characterized by steep hills, forested ridges, deeply carved valleys, and karst geology with spring-fed waterfalls and cold-water trout streams.

One option is to buy assembled or unassembled tables in stores from big manufacturers using synthetic and engineered wood products. They use materials like glued particle board, plywood or pine topped in layers of artificial wood veneers and laminates that won't convince anyone of quality. For my own part, I won't force any table designs in any profound ways. It is exactly what I make it to be. The unworked hardwood piece is there to make even more beautiful. Memorizing the hypnotic movement in the wood grain begins the process of incorporating and listening to the story that's already in the wood.

Our retail prices for our tabletops reflect things including but not limited to the species of hardwood used, size of tabletop, rarity and amount of epoxy inlays used, figurations, beauty, and shop costs.
Legs for the hardwood tabletops need to be ordered ahead of time to get them in order to install them to get the full table piece. All table legs or table base installations are free of charge to our valued customers who buy a table from us. We will be ordering them from any of your choice of reputable companies and adding that price to the full price of the table you buy.
The price of table bases or legs costs run about $200 to around $450 and up for the heavier duty ones, depending on the specific style and\or quality. We install only legs of your choosing that can safely and fully support the weight of our handcrafted tabletops, under normal use.
